Although the project focuses on the concrete and everyday a central concern is to be able to generalize and provide a bigger picture of the media in an African context. Thus, a crucial concern is to apply an academic framework that in optimalizes the balance between the specific and the general, and suggest reasons and mechanisms of change.

RQ8 applies to fieldwork done in Botswana, Zambia, DR Congo and South Africa.
